Businessman, 38, docked for alleged N300, 000 fraud

A Kano Magistrates' Court has granted a 38-year-old businessman bail in the sum of N100, 000 for N300, 000 fraud.

A 38-year-old businessman,

Yahaya, a resident of Kwanan Dangora Town, Kano, is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and fraud.

The prosecutor, Sgt. Yakubu Galadima, told the court that one Sanusi Mohammed of Gaida

Quarters, Kano reported the case in Kumbotso Police Division, Kano, on Feb. 2.

Galadima said that the accused conspired with one Abdullahi, still at large and committed the offences.

He further said the accused sold a vehicle: Golf 3 Wagon to the complainant and collected N300,000 from him.

“After the duo received the money, they attempted to run away with both the money and car but the police was able to apprehend Yahaya while Abdullahi escaped,’’ he said.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The offences contravened Sections 97 and 322 of the penal code.

The Senior Magistrate, Zubair Inuwa, granted the accused bail in the sum of N100,000 and two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case till April 3 for mention.
