Okadaman, 6 others beheaded by suspected herdsmen

The suspected herdsmen reportedly fled the scene soon after beheading the motorcyclist before the community youths arrived.

Daily Post reports that the incident reportedly took place at about 6:30 pm on Thursday, May 11, after the Okadaman went to drop a passenger at Ossissa Junction along the Ughelli/Asaba Expressway. The farmers who worked with Ugo Farm were reportedly ambushed on their way home.

According to the reports, the motorcyclist said to be in his late 20s, was reportedly on his way back when the herdsmen attacked him.

Daily Post reports that the enraged youths went in search of the culprits while the body of the deceased motorcyclist was carried in protest to the Ashaka Divisional Police Station.

The community youths reportedly barricaded the Ughelli/Asaba Highway in protest of the killings seeing as the security agencies in the state are yet to take any measures against the herdsmen in the wake of the killings.

The marauding Fulani herdsmen had according to reports, forcefully sacked local farmers from their farmlands.

Confirming the killings of the of the victims, the State Commissioner of Police, CP , said he has deployed more officers in the area and that normalcy has returned.

He also stated that his men are already on the trail of the killers, assuring the community that the killers would not go unpunished.
