Man bags 8 months jail term for possession of dangerous weapon

The convict, who is a resident of airport junction, Abuja, was convicted on a three-count charge levelled against him.

The judge, Alhaji Ahmed Ado gave the convict, N8,000 option of fine and warned him to desist from committing crimes.

The convict prayed the court to temper justice with mercy, that he needed the money to pay his bills.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Judith Obatomi, told the court that one Saidu Salisu of tipper garage, Abuja, reported the matter at the Gwarimpa Police Station, on May 1.

Obatomi said on that same date, the complainant, a security guard in the garage caught the convict trying to steal a tricycle tyre.

During police investigation, a sharp knife and two spanners were recovered from him and he admitted to the crime.

The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Sections 348, 95 and 244 of the Penal Code.
