Severe weather kills 119 people in 4 days
The government had deployed helicopters and snow removal teams in its search and rescue operations.
The spokesperson said the severe weather injured 77 others in 22 provinces.
He added that the toll could rise as rescue missions continued, noting that some main roads remained shut due to the poor conditions.
The hardest hit provinces are eastern Nuristan with 53 people dead, central Parwan with 16 dead and north-eastern Badakhshan with 11 dead, the spokesperson said.
The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs also released figures on the casualty figure.
It said that on Sunday alone, 50 people died and 13 others injured in Nuristan, while 10 died and 13 others injured in Badakhshan.
