2 men arraigned for allegedly attacking woman with bucket

Two men have been granted bail in the sum of N50, 000 each for allegedly assaulting a woman.

The accused — Adedayo, 27, and Ifeoluwa, 18 — are facing charges of assault and breach of the peace.

Police prosecutor Caleb Leranmo told the court that the accused committed the offences on March 19 at about 10.00 p.m. at Oke-Ila area of Ado-Ekiti.

Leranmo alleged that the accused assaulted a woman, Modupe Sunday also of Oke-Ila Street by hitting her with bucket on her mouth and biting  her.

He also said the accused conduct themselves in a manner that was likely to cause a breach of peace by slapping Modupe in her house.

The offences contravened Sections  84, 249, 252 and 355 of the Criminal Code,  Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.

The prosecutor applied for an adjournment to enable him to study the case file and assemble his four witnesses.

The accused pleaded not guilty and their counsel, Mr Simeon Ojo, urged the court to grant them bail, promising they will not jump bail.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Adesoji Adegboye, granted them a N50, 000 bail each with one surety each in like sum.

The case was adjourned until April 19 for hearing.
