With Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno standing in for Ze Maria at the touchline, his players dominated the match from the onset.

Francis Kahata, Innocent Wafula, Kenneth Muguna and Meddie Kagere were a thorn in the Zanzibar-based club's flesh but their efforts were thwarted by a backline which saw the match go to the breather without a goal.

From the tunnel, K’Ogalo looked more energized and Meddie Kagere was clearly geared for a goal. In the 64th minute, he etched his name on the scoreboard from a Muguna cross.

Five minutes to the end of regulation time, he again rose to the occasion to drill in from the spot to sail Gor Mahia to the semifinals.

They are now the second Kenyan club to advance after AFC Leopards booked their slot on Monday. KPL defending champions Tusker fell to Yanga in the quarterfinal stage and will be forced to return home as early as that.

Tanzanian giants Simba are fighting for the same slot against National Super Leagues side Nakuru AllStars.
