Kenya rugby 15’s national team was treated to an unusual welcome in Namibia on Wednesday ahead of its Rugby Africa Gold Cup duty against the hosts on Saturday.
The Simbas were hosted by Kenya High Commission in Namibia and Kenya Welfare Association, who wished them well in the continental championship.
“We have mobilized the Kenya community in Namibia to turn up in large numbers, be prepared for their support and show us what you are made of,” Kerubo Omurwa from the Kenya High Commission said.
Vice Chairman of the Kenya Welfare Association Namibia Fredrick Muketi also expressed his hope in Simbas’ victory.
This kind of attention has been rare for other Kenyan sports teams conspicuously in the list being football.
