The biggest football match on the Kenyan soil dubbed âMashemeji Derbyâ has been given a new dated after it had early been postponed to due to Stadium unavailability.
The MashemejiDerby that had been called off will now be staged on Sunday May 7 at Nyayo Stadium after Ingwe Managed to secure the venue that was under renovations.
Early on the KPL in communique confirmed the postponement of the match that was scheduled for Afraha Stadium in Nakuru after Leopards raised security concerns over the match.
Gor Mahia organizing Secretary Judith Anyango has now confirmed that the match is on and will now be played at the Nyayo National Stadium. Nyayo has been undergoing renovations for the last few months.
"The derby is on, we play Leopards at the Nyayo National Stadium on Sunday,said Anyango
In 2016 Leopards defeatedGor Mahia by a solitary goal in the first leg while in the second leg Gor Mahia showed its superiority defeating Leopards 2-0.

FKF together with Ingwee and Gor Mahia FC management agreed to host the Mashemaji Derby after consultations on matters of security.
Nyayo Stadium and Kasarani have been undergoing renovations in preparations to host the World championships a thing that had made them unavailable to local teams.
AFC and Gor Mahia had raised concern of low revenue collections in all the matches played out of the city.
