Judge Smokin Wanjala finally discloses why he missed final Judgment

Judge Wanjala reveals

Supreme Court Judge Justice Smokin Wanjala’s absence during the delivery of the full judgment of the presidential petition never went unnoticed.

Though Chief Justice David Maraga explained that Mr. Wanjala was out of the country, speculations were still rife as to why he decided to miss the important event.

Some Jubilee leaders including Elegeyo Marakwet Kipchumba Murkomen poked holes over Wanjala's absence during the judgment.

“My quarrel with Justice Smokin Wanjala is that he signed the Judgment.Otherwise his language&thinking was not in it.No wonder he was MIA," Murkomen opined.

Rachel Ruto is no stranger to making bold yet elegant fashion statements, but during the state visit of the Dutch royals on March 18, 2025, it wasn’t just her outfit that stood out—it was her shoes. The Kenyan First Lady stepped out in a pair of brown suede block heels adorned with a gold emblem.

On Sunday, however, Justice Wanjala came out to clear the air over his whereabouts.

In a report by the Nation, the judge mentioned that he had taken his daughter to the United Kingdom where she was being admitted to the City University of London.

The girl, who recently finished her studies at Rusinga Group of School, will be studying Actuarial Science at the UK campus.

"This is a trip that was planned long before the general elections," he said.

He further dismissed those who tried to create controversy following his conspicuous absence.

"Ours is a sick society where all sorts of idlers and busybodies create and feed rubbish to an ever gullible public," the judge mentioned.

Wanjala was among the four judges who ruled that the presidential results in the just concluded elections were marred with illegalities and irregularities.
