There are days when you find yourself feeling inexplicably exhausted when you’re at work. You didn’t have a hefty workout the night before or even engage in bedroom games, so why are you feeling tired? Surprisingly, it could be what you’re eating.

If you eat these foods, they could be contributing to your inexplicable daily fatigue.

These are the 5 surprising foods that could be causing you to feel lethargic.

White bread

Refined carbs cause an increase in blood sugar and a decline in insulin. This could cause fatigue. Other foods that could do this are pasta. So don’t go eating spaghetti for breakfast, at least.

The fruit that is bae to most Kenyans is actually a natural source of melatonin which is a hormone that improves the quality of sleep.

Other fruits in this category include cherries, pomegranates and tomatoes.

Lettuce

This vegetable contains a sedative called lactucin. And it may have a calming and pain-relieving effect which was observed when it was given to lab mice during a study.

In humans, it just makes them really sleepy.
