Wanjigi caught off guard by government, days after Raila-Uhuru deal
He didn't see it coming
The withdrawal of the case had earlier been reported to have been one of the informal agreements made after President Uhuru Kenyatta met with NASA leader Raila Odinga.
Wanjigi’s lawyer Kiogora Mugambi had on Monday stated that he was privy to information that the case would be formally terminated at a Nyeri Court on Thursday.
However, come Thursday, Mugambi was surprised after Senior Counsel Wesley Nyamachae told Chief Magistrate Wendy Kagendo that the DPP had no intention of terminating the four cases affecting the Wanjigis.
Jimi’s father and former Cabinet Minister Maina Wanjigi was further required to submit his medical records that would explain why he missed a previous court appearance.
Jimi’s bodyguard Boniface Nginyo Mwaura is also facing charges of misusing his firearm.
The businessman’s lawyer Memba Muriuki is also facing criminal charges for allegedly selling illegal firearms to Jimi.
