Kenya Airport Police Unit (KAPU) commandant Philip Ndolo has been ousted from his position following Miguna’s second deportation.
The JKIA based commandant was summoned to the police headquarters and commanded to hand over position to Nyamira commander Titus Karuri Ndungu. Ndungu who had been called upon was told to report to JKIA and take the reins in the airport.
The decision to eject Ndolo was based on the mishandling of Miguna’s lawyers in JKIA.
A contingent of police officers maltreated Miguna’s lawyers; James Orengo, Nelson Havi, Cliff Ombeta and Julie Soweto while trying to hand in court orders to the immigration department.
It is alleged that Ndolo called GSU personnel to dispel the lawyers and journalists as well from the state owned facility.
“He is being accused of many issues including calling GSU to take over such an operation, harassing of journalists and allowing of unauthorized people to the baggage hall,” an official stated.
Ndolo is reported to have told his bossed that the Kenya Airports Authority allowed people into the baggage hall and his job is to ensure that the place is secure.
An insider also revealed that investigations are ongoing to establish how the GSU personnel were released to the airport further stating that journalists were doing their job right.
The police were also accused for locking up the NASA activist in a toilet yet the airport has a cell where he could be placed.
The police were accused of many other wrong deeds that took place in JKIA.
