DP Ruto Supports Sacking of Chiloba, Gives 1 Condition

DP Ruto makes u-turn on NASA demands

Deputy President William Ruto has now expressed a change of heart regarding the demands issued by NASA to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) ahead of the fresh presidential elections.

Speaking to journalists at his Karen Residence Mr. Ruto seemed to agree with NASA that the irreducible minimums be met before the polls scheduled for October 26.

According to the DP, the changes should, however, not affect the date for the fresh elections.

“If they (the election board) chose to have a discussion with our competitors with a view to firing this member of staff or firing that member of that staff or changing a supplier ... so long as the elections are there, we will participate,” Ruto said.

Mr. Ruto noted that Jubilee will participate in the polls even if the Commission fires the officials.

NASA has been staging Anti-IEBC demos across the country demanding the removal of electoral body CEO Ezra Chiloba among other officials.

The Opposition leaders have maintained that they will not participate in an election headed by the same people who handled the bungled August 8 General Election.

This is after NASA Principal Raila Odinga moved to court and challenged the presidential results which declared President Uhuru Kenyatta the winner.

NASA penned down 34 irreducible minimums to the IEBC which they noted must be met before any poll can be held.
