A man from Nyeri County is in police custody after brutally attacking his wife and their 2-year-old son with a kitchen knife.
Wilson Kiguru Kamau reportedly entered into an argument with his wife, Mercy Njeri, over the price of unga.
Kamau was enraged by his 28-year-old wife for spending too much money on food.
Speaking from her hospital bed Njeri divulged that her husband demanded rent money on Saturday night but she had none.
“He was asking for rent money but I had spent all my money on food since I am the breadwinner,” she said.
Njeri noted that this angered Kamau who descended upon her and their son at around 5 am on Sunday.
She was stabbed multiple times in the face, neck and head, while the toddler suffered a deep cut on the forehead.
Njeri was rescued by her neighbor who stated: “We found her lying in a pool of blood next to the child but the husband ran away”.
“He does not work and he has been living off his wife. In the past, they have argued about money and food,” the neighbor was quoted by the Nation.
Interestingly, Kamau reported himself to the police station where he told the officers that he had killed his wife and son.
Confirming this Nyeri OCPD Muinde Kioko said: “He turned himself in and reported he had killed them, which shows he had the intention to kill”.
The two are currently admitted at Consolata Hospital-Mathari, where they are receiving treatment.
