DP Ruto’s event in Baringo disrupted

Woman earns a date with DP Ruto after disrupting his event

Deputy President William Ruto who was in Baringo County over the weekend had his event disrupted as he was reading his speech to the public.

The DP was mid-way through his speech when a young woman marched through the crowd with her two children, causing a stir.

Attempts by the DP’s security team proved futile as the woman identified as Michelle Chepkoech raised her voice shouting "Mheshimiwa (Honourable) Ruto" to grab the DP’s attention.

Ruto momentarily stopped his speech and asked his security detail to allow the woman to access the dais and wait for him to finish his speech.

Rachel Ruto is no stranger to making bold yet elegant fashion statements, but during the state visit of the Dutch royals on March 18, 2025, it wasn’t just her outfit that stood out—it was her shoes. The Kenyan First Lady stepped out in a pair of brown suede block heels adorned with a gold emblem.

Chepkoech disclosed to the media that unemployment and poverty had pushed her to approach the DP who she believed could solve her problems which she has shared with many leaders but no help has been forthcoming.

“I have told so many people, including leaders, about my problem but they have not helped me. I just wanted the DP to buy me and my children a small piece of land," Chepkoech said.

The DP later gave her an appointment to meet him at his office in Nairobi.

Ruto who was in the county to launch development projects was later crowned Tugen elder and assured of support in 2022 presidential race.

He was accompanied by a host of Jubilee leaders including MPs Kimani IIchung'wa (Kikuyu), Daniel Tuitoek (Mogotio), Moses Lessonet (Eldama Ravine) and Oscar Sudi (Kapseret).
