As the dust settles after controversial, shambolic and high stakes party nominations, a crop of high profile politicians have risen and given a new meaning to the term “independents”.
Never before in the history of Kenya have there been a huge number of independent candidates than in this year’s August elections.

On Tuesday, the office of the Registrar of Political Parties had a hard time to control the thousands of politicians who are running as independents in the August elections as they rushed to be cleared to run.
Most of the independents are seasoned high profile politicians who have been felled at the primaries by little known or upcoming politicians who swayed voters across a wind of changed that swept the country.
Below is a list of the politicians and the positions they will be vying for in August:
Paul Otuoma - Governor Busia (ex- ODM)
Joseph Ndathi - Governor (ex-Jubilee)
Julius Malombe - Governor Kitui (ex-Nasa/Wiper)
Zedekiah Kiprop aka Buzeki - Governor Uasin Gishu (ex- Jubilee)
Kembi Gitura - Senator Murang'a (ex-Jubilee)
Peter Mositet - Senator Kajiado (ex-Jubilee)
