The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has responded to Opposition Coalition NASA’s breakdown of the August 8 presidential election.
In a statement posted on their twitter account, the electoral commission termed NASA’s result as a misleading fabrication.
“The presentation by NASA totally misleads the public on the results pathway, the servers, and information on the public portal and the forms used to declare results,” read the commissions statement.
The statement was signed by Acting IEBC Chairperson Connie Maina who noted that it was not the first time the opposition team had raised such unsubstantiated claims.
The whereabouts of substantive Chairman Wafula Chebukati remain unclear.
“On August 10 2017, NASA presented to the commission figures allegedly obtained from IEBC servers showing that Raila Odinga had won the election. The commission ably debunked this myth and that remains to be in the public domain,” said the commission.
NASA had on Friday officially released the presidential results of the August 8 General Election, which it allegedly retrieved from the IEBC servers.
According to the overall results by NASA, Odinga garnered a whopping 8.1 million votes while Uhuru Kenyatta came in second with 7.9 million votes.
