Interior CS Dr Fred Matiang’i and Inspector General of Police on Thursday joined in person the search and rescue of victims who have been washed away by Patel Dam at Solai waters, in Subukia, Nakuru County.
As at 8 am on Thursday, the number of people who had perished had increased to 20, even as rescue operations including multi government agencies intensified.
Rongai police boss Japheth Kioko on Thursday said 20 bodies had been recovered, with search and rescue operation ongoing.

There are fears of the toll rising further because "many people" are still unaccounted for, according to local leaders.
Missing persons
Red Cross told the press on Wednesday night that tens of people were unaccounted for and 39 rescued. Those who were saved were taken to Bahati Sub-County and Nakuru Level 5 Hospitals.
The mega dam is located inside the farm of prominent farmer Mansukul Patel in Solai.
Houses in the area were also swept in the incident at about 9 pm, reports indicating that at least 500 families and 2,500 people were affected.
