Former Nairobi gubernatorial candidate Miguna Miguna caused an uproar on social media after telling Deputy President William Ruto to join National Resistance Movement (NRM).

In a series of tweets, the former gubernatorial candidate and former aide to opposition leader Raila Odinga referred to the DP as a pricked drain who does not understand history, adding that he is in the same situation Jaramogi Oginga Odinga, the first vice president of Kenya was in 52 years ago.
