Kwale ODM Members of Parliament (MP) have warned Mombasa Governor Hassan joho against interfering with party nominations slated to kick off on April 1 2017 in the County.

Led by Matuga MP Hassan Mwanyoha, the leaders accused Joho of attempting to push certain candidates to have them fly ODM tickets for specific seats

“We want the list for all ODM registered members in Kwale County to be released for verification purposes,” Mr Mwanyoha stated.

Aspirants in the County echoed his sentiments and warned that they will not allow accept any leader to be imposed or favoured during nominations.

Source privy to the matter revealed that Joho had specific candidates for Kwale Gubernatorial seat after Salim Mvurya defected to jubilee as well as the senatorial seat after the death of Senator Boy Juma Boy.

Msambweni ODM chairman Fatuma Juma also expressed fears of Joho’s attempt to influence party nominations.

“We can not accept projects to come here and get the party tickets at the expense of people who have been with the party and built it to its current strength and popularity,” Juma stated.

ODM leader Raila Odinga had promised and assured all aspirants that party nominations would be free and fair.

However, a section of ODM aspirants have claimed that there is a plot being hatched to give direct nomination tickets to incumbents especially the Governors.

This has prompted some leaders to ditch ODM for affiliate parties in NASA, the recent example being Chirau Mwakwere among others.
