Fresh details have emerged indicating that NASA presidential candidate on Saturday during a private meeting requested Senator Hassan Omar to quit Mombasa gubernatorial race in favour of Hassan Joho.
According to a source who spoke to a local daily, the meeting was held at the EnglishPoint Marina on Saturday morning where the Opposition leader, his running mate Kalonzo Musyoka,Omar and Joho were present.
The senator is said to have been infuriated by Odinga's request and told the latter he would not step down for the ODM deputy leader.Omar confirmed attending the meeting at Marina but affirmed that he would be on the ballot on August 8.
"At the moment there is no turning back because we have already done a lot and gained ground. Whoever might even be thinking of such a thing should forget it,â the Senator was quoted by the Nation.However, Joho's communication director Richard Chacha, maintained that the Governor was not worried whether or not Omar would be at the ballot come August 8.
