The National Super Alliance (NASA) has canceled a major rally that was planned for today in Gusii stadium, Kisii County.
The rally was called off after it emerged that President Uhuru Kenyatta was set to use the stadium today.
NASA leaders in Kisii led by Governor James Ongwae disclosed that they had paid Sh50,000 for the stadium only to be informed that Jubilee would use adding that the ruling coalition had not even paid for it."All requisite notices had been issued, including paying for the venue. I was shocked to learn this morning from the county commissioner Karanja Njora that President Uhuru Kenyatta will be at the stadium yet Jubilee has not paid for it,” Ongwae told a local daily. The Governor stated that they had postponed the rally to Tuesday after discussing the issue with NASA principals and other leaders. However, Jubilee Governor candidate Chris Obure maintained that they were only aware of one rally, that of the Head of State.
"Nothing will stop us from holding the rally. The parties have agreed on the way forward and this should not create any tension among residents," Obure affirmed.
