Weather

After bringing heavy snow to parts of the Carolinas, Virginia and West Virginia on Sunday, a major winter storm will begin moving out to sea Monday. Gusty coastal winds will develop in its wake. This could result in flooding at high tide.

A few rain and snow showers will linger over inland parts of the Carolinas. Closer to the coast, it will be warm enough for just rain to fall. The rest of the Southeast will be mainly cloudy and cool as storm cleanup and snow removal begin in earnest.

Cooler, less humid air will move into South Florida, bringing dry conditions.

The rest of the East will be sunny, calm and chilly. The recent stretch of dry weather is expected to continue. The Midwest should be similarly cool and calm.

In the central states and the Southwest, plenty of sunshine will prevail along with increasingly mild conditions.
