IEBC Confirms attempts to Hack Electoral System

IEBC has now confirmed that some people tried to gain access to the Electoral system...

IEBC has now confirmed that some people attempted to hack the Electoral system but failed.

Addressing the press, IEBC Commissioner Yakub Guliye, who chairs the commission’s ICT committee, disclosed that the hackers failed and that the system was secure.

“We have seen attempts by some people to hack into our system but they did not succeed because we have invested heavily in the surveillance system.

“There was attempt but there is no evidence of access. The alleged hacking is not our system. Claims the system was hacked are not true,” Prof Guliye stated.

Nasa presidential candidate Raila Odinga had earlier claimed that the system was hacked by people who manipulated the results which are being streamed on IEBC website indicating President Uhuru Kenyatta is leading.

Odinga alleged that someone had used the Late Chris Msando’s logins to gain access.

However, IEBC CEO Ezra Chiloba denied such claims stating that Msando did not have any passwords that would have been used to gain access.
