The Government has sponsored a three-day shopping spree for all Kenyans starting on Wednesday, March 29, at the Kenya International Convention Centre (KICC) in Nairobi.

Making the announcement, State House Spokesperson Manoah Esipisu mentioned that the super deal will see Kenyans buy brand new designer clothes produced by Export Processing Zones (EPZ) for as low as 50 and not exceeding 600.

High-end fashion designer brands such Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger, Noel & Noella and Victoria Secrets will also be at the sale.

According to Mr Esipisu the deal dubbed 2017 First Ever Super Sale is focused on promoting the local textile industry.

“They are making them available to this market so that Kenyans can have a sense and feel of what it is that is being produced here and being worn in major cities in the world but which by the time Kenyans see it again it’s like it's already been worn in other markets and coming back under the used clothes’ category,” State House spokesperson said.

The sale which ends on Friday, March 31 will be starting at 9 am- 6 pm daily. It will also take place in other major towns such as Mombasa, Nakuru and Kisumu.

EPZ is a major economy booster in the country with total investments of Sh74 billion.

Ministry of Industry, Trade and Co-operative Cabinet Secretary Adan Mohammed mentioned that the company also employs more than 50,000 people.

Mr Esipisu added that: "this is a demonstration of the importance accorded to the sector by President Uhuru Kenyatta’s administration".
