Fact: Celebs wear Spanx on the red carpet. But at Sunday's Vanity Fair Oscars after party, Sarah Hyland took her Spanx-wearing to the next level: She wore two pairs.
Sarah shared her wardrobe choice on Instagram and Twitter after the party: #funfact Im wearing TWO pairs of spanx. Why diet? When you can just hide it! she captioned a shot of herself working it on the red carpet. Several celebrities laughed with her in the comments.

Plenty of other people didnt find it funny, though. "What an irresponsible post from someone with influence, one person wrote. You are transparent about your problems gaining weight, so imagine how confusing and upsetting this post is to some people. Please consider addressing your mistake, you can do better!" Another wrote, You look like you do not need them!
Apparently, Sarah wasn't wearing Spanx to look thinner. She was wearing them to hide the bulge left behind from her second kidney transplant, which she had in 2017.
One of Sarah's fans pointed this out on Twitter: "If you're trying to hide the bump from your transplant, forget it. I've been trying for years!! Stay healthy. #kidneystrong #transplantssavelives." Sarah retweeted the fan's comment with a simple response: "Someone gets it!"

Sarah's talked about her kidney bulge before, too. In an interview with SELF , Sarah explained why the bulge is there: "When they do a kidney transplant, they connect the new kidney to your old kidneys in front," she said, which makes her lower abdomen pop out a bit. "I call it my KUPA: kidney upper pussy area."
But while she definitely makes light of it, it can be tough to deal with sometimes. "Sometimes I have complete meltdowns in the middle of fittings," she said. "Being like, 'KUPA will show. I really want to wear this dress and you can't hide it.'"
The lesson? When it comes to criticizing people for their fashion choices-yes, even for their undergarments-maybe take a hard pass.
