There are places where you can't hold your wedding outdoors.

Marriage, like every other institution has to be governed by officials who determine what can be classified as acceptable.

In most instances, the laws are you run-of-the-mill type laws where they try to prevent fraud and protect assets of a rich spouse.

However there are others that make next to no sense.

Here are 10 of them.

1. No outdoor weddings- England

Laws require marriages to be serious therefore, weddings must take place in a "fixed structure" with a roof - such as a church or house. This means no open-air, outdoor, or garden weddings. Exemptions exist for religious groups other than the Church of England.

2. You can marry your dead fiancé- France

The law was introduced in France after World War 1 to allow women to marry dead men so as to allow them to get death benefits. Later on, the law was ammended to prevent any confusion.  Right now you need express permission of the President of France. You also have to provide proof that the deceased intended to marry you before they died.

In Cape Cod, Massachusetts, a law was passed in 1771 requiring men in the township to kill six blackbirds or three crows, and they couldn't get married until they comply with this requisition. This was due to a pest control problem with birds.

4. You can only marry if the chicken says so- China

In Daur, China, tradition requires engaged couples to dissect a chicken and check out the liver. A healthy liver is only what permits you to set a date. If not, they have to seek chickens until they find one with a healthy liver.

5. You can't marry the same man four times- USA

6. You have to announce your marriage- Monaco

You are required to put up a note in the local town hall announcing your marriage It must remain there for at least 10 days, and that period also must include two Sundays.

7. You can't get divorced- Philippines

Being a predominantly Catholic country, divorce is illegal in the Philippines.

8. No age limit for brides- Saudi Arabia

Men in the country can marry girls as young as 15 and because of the "guardianship law" which requires every woman to have a male guardian, it's difficult for women and girls in abusive marriages to acquire divorces.

9. If you're Saudi Arabian, you can't marry from these countries- Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia banned its men from marrying women from Pakistan, Bangladesh, Chad and Myanmar.

10. If you're meant to be, take this trash- Scotland

Before a wedding, the bride and groom are pelted with trash including rotten eggs and stale fish. The belief is that if the couple can withstand this, they can endure anything.
