Leaders and ordinary Kenyans alike went on social media to offer their condolences and express shock after the sad demise of Nyeri Governor, Nderitu Gachagua.

Mr Gachagua died while undergoing treatment at Royal Marsden London hospital in the United Kingdom .

The governor who was elected under the Grand National Party, has been ailing since in 2013 when he was elected as governor.

Before becoming governor, he served as the Member of Parliament for Mathira constituency

After a hard battle with pancreatic cancer he sadly passed away at 2:15 am in the morning on Friday.
