Seven suspected gang members were shot dead on Thursday by police.
According to the police, the suspected thugs were killed in a botched 1:39am robbery at Isinya, Kajiado County.
Police stated that the suspects had traveled from Nairobi to the area for their mission when they met their death.
An AK47 rifle, two police uniforms and a police communication gadget were recovered from the slain men.
Crime increase
Police boss Pius Gitari stated: "The gang had moved to Isinya thinking it is poorly policed where they have been staging attacks. We are all over."
Officers from Special Service Unit (SSU) were deployed to the area since the weekend and have been combing there to get leads on the gang behind the incidents.
According to the 2019 Economic Survey, the total number of murder cases registered increased from 956 in 2017 to 1,065 in 2018.
The survey indicated that number of murder cases crossed the 1,000 mark in 2018 as crime statistics painted a grim picture for the country investing billions of shillings in the security sector.
