Former Minister Julius Ole Sunkuli has revealed startling details in a quest to unearth what caused the death of his son Augustine Salaton, whose body was found in Kisii a few days ago, with no traces of the killers.

Details are now emerging that the son to the former Internal Security Minister went missing on May 7, but he reported the matter to the police on May 17, and two days later (May 19) his body found at Kisii Teaching and Referral Mortuary.

The former Minister further narrated that his son had been searched in all areas and police booked his body at the mortuary as that of unidentified person.

"What we know is that the boy went missing on May 7, we looked for him until we were told there was an unidentified body in Kilgoris by police.

“So we went and asked if they know that person, went to check and confirmed it was my son. We also confirmed that police recorded him as an unknown person..

"We want to know what happened,” he said.

His account, however, sharply differs with the police’s, who hinted that the man may have been killed by a mob justice, blaming Sunkuli’s family for taking ‘too long to report to the police.’

"At about 8 am, there was a mob justice and police took the second victims body to the same mortuary where they found there was no freezer. So they took the two bodies to Kisii's morgue," Police spokesperson Charles Owino said as quoted by the .

Owino added: "There should be leads but you can see from May 7, the deceased was not living at home, but they reported to police on [May 19] after two weeks, what does that show you? They are playing politics.”
