Class eight girl goes into labor during KCPE

The Sub County Commissioner warned men from impregnanting underage girls

A class eight girl went into labor on Tuesday morning when she was preparing to sit for her KCPE exams.

The 14-year-old girl in Nandi County developed contractions early morning and was quickly rushed to Nandi Hills County Referral hospital.

The Nandi Hills Sub County Deputy Director of Education Kipruto Kosgey confirmed that the new mother delivered a baby boy and then went on to sit for the first paper of the 2017 KCPE exam.

Mr Kipruto informed eDaily that following the successful delivery the young girl would have to sit for KCPE exams in the hospital.

“Following the birth process, the pupil developed a sitting problem which will force her to sit for her exams in hospital.”

The Nandi East Sub County Commissioner, Mbogai Rioba noted that several girls between the age of 14 and 16 in the sub county are expectant.

He went on to warn men against impregnating underage girls.
