Political Parties Registrar Anne Nderitu, stated that the law governing the parties in the country needed to be reviewed in order to sustain the economy.
Nderitu noted that the current law inhibited smaller parties from equally benefiting from the funds issued by the office as the biggest shares are taken up by Jubilee and ODM parties.

“Although some of the provisions appear practical, implementing them poses serious challenges,” remarked the Registrar.
According to the Political Parties Act, every organization is required to have offices in 24 counties, a number that has not been achieved by the smaller parties.
ODM claims Sh5 billion in unpaid arrears
In February 2018, the ruling party was allocated the biggest share despite complaints from ODM.
Parliament had given out Sh371.2 million to be distributed to the parties.

The opposition party had claimed that the registrar’s office had not paid the party approximately Sh5 billion since 2013.
The Raila Odinga led party in 2016 had moved to court in a bid to compel the National Treasury to hold the part of the law in regards to the 0.3 percent allocation of the funds.
