Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has courted controversy over a planned visit to NASA leader Raila Odingas backyard of Nyanza region.
Kuria has been invited to be the guest of honour at a fund raiser to Odienya SDA Church in Rangwe constituency - Homa Bay County.
The controversial MP stated that he was visiting the area upon the visit of local leaders including Rangwe MP Hon Lillian Gogo and Homa Bay Women Rep Gladys Wanga.
He added that he would also use the tour to visit other development projects in the area.
"I will take the opportunity to tour the proposed site of the Nyaburu-Oboke-Rangwe Road whose tarmarcking we hope to start in May. Karibuni nyote tufanye kazi ya Mungu na tutumikie watu wake (welcome all as we do God's work and service for his people)," Kuria stated.
While the visit was made in the spirit of the famous handshake between Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta, local opinion shapers have opposed.
There have been loud murmurs as a section of the locals made references Kuria's controversies regarding hate speech allegations.
"Odienya SDA church in Rangwe has moses kuria as chief guest for harambee on 14-4-2018. Why can't the church have some moral ground," Bildad Odero stated.
"If Moses Kuria's visit to Luo Nyanza is the only way of getting us out of "poverty" then we are okay remaining poor. Certain things cannot be wished away with a hand," Innocent Ngare reacted on his Facebook post.
