Moses Kuria warns Mike Sonko against disobeying President Uhuru

Sonko claimed that a top government official has been threatening him

Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria has warned Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko against disobeying President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Kuria in his column on the Star warned that Governor Sonko should let civil servants do their jobs and deal with politicians.

“Anybody touching on civil servants is questioning the authority of the appointing authority, who is President Uhuru Kenyatta. I believe in giving civil servants a free hand to work without interference,” he said.

The vocal MP also advised the governor to raise issues with the Jubilee Party secretariat first before going public with them.

“I want to caution Sonko that before he makes such claims in public, he first needs to exploit the Jubilee party's internal dispute resolution mechanisms,” said Kuria.

Moses Kuria’s remarks came after the flamboyant Governor of Nairobi City County claimed in one of the top vernacular radio stations Kameme FM that Interior and National Coordination Principal Secretary Dr. Karanja Kibicho has been threatening him to pick specific people to replace Polycarp Igathe who resigned as Nairobi Deputy Governor in January, citing lack of trust from the governor.

The governor however, did to disclose the person being fronted by PS Karanja Kibicho, but insisted that the PS has been on his neck, pushing him to pick “his choice” for the county’s plum job.
