Miguna hijacked and forced himself to swear in Raila – ODM now says

New details emerge after Raila's interview

The ODM party has now claimed that self-declared NRM General Miguna Miguna was not the person designated to administer the oath of office on ODM Leader Raila Odinga during the famous parallel oath ceremony.

ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna stated that the oath was supposed to have been conducted by Ruaraka MP Tom Kajwang’ but Miguna “hijacked” the oathing ceremony.

“I could have done it but there were way more senior Lawyers Like @orengo_james Kaluma, Kajwang. Infact Kajwang had been designated to officiate. Its why he was in full Robes,” Sifuna tweeted.

Dennis Maina, a Twitter user, queried whether the statement meant that the NRM General had hijacked the event.

“Hijacked. Imposed. Bulldozed. Forced himself upon. Usurped. Commandeered. Take your pick,” the ODM Secretary General responded.

He added that Kajwang’ was the only “Kenyan” who was charged with treason over the January 30 swearing in ceremony.

Sifuna’s comments came shortly after Odinga refused to comment on Miguna’s tribulations.

"I do not want to talk about Miguna Miguna, you know how he has treated me and the things he has said about me,” the ODM leader said without delving on the matter.

Miguna has previously bragged that he was the only lawyer in Nasa who was brave enough to swear in Odinga, complaining that he had been repaid with betrayal.

He was arrested and forcefully exiled a few days after conducting the controversial oath.

Numerous court orders have nullified the orders that purported to deport Miguna but the Immigration Department and the Ministry of Interior has declined to comply.
