Gatundu South lawmaker Moses Kuria has expressed disappointment with the way the Education Ministry carried the Form One selection process.

Speaking in Nyeri on Sunday, Kuria claimed that candidates from the central region, who had performed well did not get positions into their preferred schools.

Downgrade Schools

“How can a child from Tetu score 420 marks and be admitted to a funny school like Mumbuini Secondary School yet we have good schools like Kagumo in Nyeri?” Kuria asked.

Kuria argued that the schools in the Mt Kenya region were established to help children in the region and had access to good learning environments.

However, the MP noted that it was important to foster unity in the country but the process the Education Ministry used was 'victimising' the learners from central Kenya.

Selection Mixup

“It is good to have a united country but this cannot be achieved at the expense of the future of our children,” the Gatundu lawmaker argued.

Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga agreed with Kuria's sentiments and vowed to support the MP's decision on Form One selection.
