Rachel Ruto is no stranger to making bold yet elegant fashion statements, but during the state visit of the Dutch royals on March 18, 2025, it wasn’t just her outfit that stood out—it was her shoes. The Kenyan First Lady stepped out in a pair of brown suede block heels adorned with a gold emblem.

After Okoth clinched the seat he used his connections to have Ann nominated to the county assembly after the 2017 General Election.

Baby boy

In 2015 the two were blessed with a baby boy who they named Jayden Baraka Okoth.

The Kibra MP then visited Ann's home in Tetu, Nyeri County and informed her parents that he was the father to their daughter's child.

According to friends close to Ken, he was a responsible father to his son Jayden and texts posted by governor Mike Sonko show him inquiring about his progress in school.

As a nominated MCA, Ann made headlines when she proposed a motion at the County Assembly to have private hospitals barred from charging visitors parking fees.

Sitting in committees

Under the Motion, she rebukes an influx in the number of private hospitals with parking lots for which patients and other visitors are charged.

She further urged the county to formulate policies to ensure all profits from the parking slots were paid to the county to ensure they were prudently used in maintaining the health facilities.

Ann sits in four committees — the Public Health Services; Energy Information, Communications and Technology; Culture and Community Services and the Delegated County Legislation committees.
