President Uhuru Kenyatta has mourned his childhood friend and classmate Bruce Odhiambo who passed on at the Nairobi Hospital on Monday night.

The head of state sent condolences messages to Odhiambo’s family and friends and hailed his talent as a music entrepreneur.

Bruce Odhiambo was a go-getter. He was a talented musician who joined hands with others to entertain Kenyans with the legendary Mombasa based Safari Sounds Band and Spartans,” observed the President.

Odhiambo also served as Youth Fund Chairman between 2014 and 2016.

St Mary's School

Kenyatta said Odhiambo's production studios known as Johari Cleff where the late mentored and sharpened the skills of young people who were interested in creative arts.

In a past interview, the music producer said he was raised in a humble family but his mother “sacrificed everything” to send him to St Mary’s School – then a school for Kenya’s elite.

It was at St Mary’s that he met Kenyatta and a lifelong friendship was born.

Uhuru’s son, Jomo is among those who were trained by the late having interned at Johari Cleff records in 2011.
