The Director of Public Prosecutions, the Director of Criminal Investigations and the Anti-Terrorism Police Unit have stated they do not wish to be involved in the Kenya Airways (KQ) whistle-blower case.

Speaking in court, the DPP, DCI and ATPU stated that they are not interested parties in the matter.

The DCI stated they will not be probing Gire Ali who filmed and published a video of a Chinese plane which had landed at JKIA from China amid the coronavirus outbreak.

The court issued orders preventing the Office of the Director of Prosecutions from arresting Mr Ali or taking any other action against him.

Whistle-blower

Ali, who works as the Assistant Security Agent had accused KQ of punishing him in a matter of public interest.

He further argued that he never contravened any law, regulations or procedures. and added there were plans to arrest and charge him.

His lawyer Danstan Omari told Justice Weldon Korir that the Transport Cabinet Secretary James Macharia informed Parliament that Mr Ali committed an offence and should be arrested and charged.

It's a matter where Kenyans should be told whether flights were being sneaked in the country without the knowledge of the CS,” said Omari.

The public prosecutor and DCI told the court that they have not received instructions from KQ to investigate the whistle-blower.
