Safaricom has announced that M-PESA users will not be able to access services on Sunday August 27.
In a statement released on Friday August 25, Safaricom stated that the M-PESA system would be going through a planned upgrade.
“We expect all services to be restored and M-PESA to be fully functional following the process,” read the statement.
This is not the first time that M-PESA has disrupted operations as just last month they disrupted operations for similar reasons.
Safaricom had previously initiated a three-week system upgrade on June 30 which saw M-Pesa services disrupted ocassionally.
According to the telecommunication company, the upgrade is geared towards adding new features and automating some functions to reduce the need for customers to make a request at its call centres.
Mr Collymore mentioned: "This upgrade paves the way for the next phase of M-Pesa and will enable the service delivers, even more, value for our customers and partners".
