Security guard dragged to court over alleged stealing

A 32-year-old man,

Jonathan, a security guard at Akobo area, Ibadan, was arraigned in court on a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.

The Police Prosecutor, Sgt. Femi Omilana, said the accused and others at large, stole one Boxer Bajaj motorcycle marked FNN-338 QC worth N250,000, belonging to Mrs Rukayat Ajayi of Bodija, Ibadan.

Omilana said the man committed the offence on Dec. 6, 2016 at about 10:00 a.m. at Ashi in Bodija, Ibadan.

He said Ajayi gave the motorcycle to the accused after the initial deposit with an agreement that Jonathan would pay N30,000 monthly for seven months to complete the payment.

Omilana said when the accused failed to keep to his promise of paying the agreed amount; the complainant reported him to the police and he was arrested.

He said the offence contravened Sections 390 (9) and 516 of the Criminal Code, Cap. 38, Vol. II, Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Taiwo Oladiran, granted the accused N50,000 bail with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case to March 20 for mention.
