The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has set October 17 as the date for the upcoming elections.
Through a statement released to the media, IEBC also noted that President Uhuru Kenyatta and NASA leader Honorable Raila Odinga will be the only candidates in the ballot.
"There shall be no fresh nominations in the envisaged fresh election," read the statement.
Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i had on Monday September 4, requested IEBC to hold the repeat elections a week before October 17 when the National examinations are set to begin.
"The IEBC has promised that they will consider our request. They have not confirmed but we are hoping that they will consider us so that their decision does not interfere with so many things," the CS briefed the press, adding that he had held extensive talks with IEBC Chairman Mr Wafula Chebukati.
