Police on Friday lobbed teargas to disperse rowdy National Resistance Movement supporters who had engaged in running battles with the police at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).
Mr Raila Odinga supporters, who is expected to touch down at JKIA at 11 am, stationed at City Cabanas along Mombasa Road, where four barricades have been erected by the police, attempted to force their way past the antiriot officers.
On Thursday, Nairobi County Police Commandant Japheth Koome warned Raila Odinga supporters against holding a rally in the capital.
He added that the state controlled JKIA would remain out of bound for politicians and journalists, adding that the NASA leader could only be welcomed by family members.
