The Green Army beat Zanzibar-based club Jang’ombe Boys FC 2-0 courtesy of Ugandan-born Rwandan Meddie Kagere to qualify for semifinals.
For Simba, it was a great heartbreak to fans after a painful exit at the hands of ‘underdogs’ Nakuru AllStars and while conceding the defeat the Simba fan predicted that Gor Mahia stand a better chance of lifting the trophy.
He told P Live that Yanga, a Tanzanian team which booked the semifinal slot after beating Tusker in quarters have a ‘poor’ squad which cannot challenge for the title.
“This is just a result of the game but I think we played well. As a Simba fan am not happy but I concede defeat because that’s the result.
“Nakuru (AllStars) is not a bad team they have played well too but in football you cannot despise any team; we have seen this happen even in European matches.
“In my opinion I think a Kenyan team will win this tournament; Yanga have a poor squad. I don’t support them (Kenyan teams) but going by how I saw AFC Leopards, Nakuru AllStars and Gor Mahia playing, Yanga cannot manage a slot past semifinal; even if they make it they will be beaten in the finals. Gor Mahia have high chances of lifting the trophy. They are a stronger side.”
Yanga will meet AFC Leopards at the semifinal as Gor Mahia meet Nakuru AllStars.
