Chaos break out in Thika town

Motorists advised to avoid these roads

Chaos on Tuesday afternoon broke out on in Thikas Central Business District after police lobbed teargas to disperse students who were protesting against insecurity and corruption.

The students were drawn from Thika Technical Training Institute which is located in Thika town.

Motorists were advised to avoid the road heading to Mount Kenya University and Thika Level 5 Hospital where students were engaging in a violent clash with the authorities.

The demonstrating students complained over misuse of funds, frequent water outages, blocked sewers, no WiFi and neglect of duties by some of their lecturers.

Police were forced to use teargas to disperse demonstration as some criminal elements took advantage to vandalise the college facilities while others pelted stones at motorists, causing a heavy traffic snarl up.
