Nairobi residents have in the past few months been subjected to water rationing and the news from the Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company is worrying.

According to the company, the water rationing program across parts of Nairobi is expected to get worse as the levels at the Ndakaini dam have hit a new low.

Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company Managing Director Philip Gichuki on Tuesday said that the water levels have reached a first time low of 25 per cent.

Rationing  schedule

In January, the company released a water rationing schedule to last until April during the beginning of the long rains which were were expected to increase Ndakaini’s water levels.

At the beginning of the year, the dam’s water levels were at 42 per cent.

Already the company has announced a disruption of water supply services to residents of three counties including Nairobi, Kiambu and parts of Machakos County.

The disruption is scheduled to take place between April 6 (Thursday) and 8 (Saturday) to allow for the maintenance of the raw water pipeline from Mataara-Ngethu.
