NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga has requested President Uhuru Kenyatta to ensure the rule of law is adhered to after Embakasi East MP Babu Owino was re-arrested on Wednesday evening by flying squad.

The legislator was nabbed shortly after he was released on Sh500,000 cash bail following his derogatory remarks against the President's family.

In a press statement, Odinga noted that the Government had resorted to intimidating and torturing MPs who were against Jubilee."NASA condemns this trend and demands that it stops immediately. We call on President Kenyatta to lead the way in ensuring the rule of law is adhered to and that the state does not abuse and use the courts to intimidate legislators and all citizens, " Odinga said. The former Prime Minister added, "We are concerned that the State is resorting to persecution, banditry and torture tactics where the application and the rule of law would suffice."

The legislator was arrested on Tuesday after a clip went viral on social media where he seemingly referred to Kenyatta as a 'son of a bitch'.Owino's utterances led to demonstrations especially in Kiambu County and Githurai 45 compelling police to take action.Reports indicate the Embakasi MP was re-arrested again on incitement and violence charges.
