Keroche heiress and Nero Company CEO Anerlisa Muigai has spoken after the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) Noordin Haji ordered for the arrest of her mother Tabitha Karanja.

In a post seen by Pulselive.co.ke, Anerlisa shared a picture with her mother which she went on to caption with emojis saying that she was praying for her.

In a second post, she stated that she is fully in support of her mother and that no one should watch their mother go through harassment.

It doesn't matter what position you are in, nobody should ever watch their mother go through harassment. #iStandWithKeroche #iStandWithTabitha,” she wrote.

DPP

The DPP on Wednesday ordered for the immediate arrest of Ms Tabitha and her husband Joseph Karanja, who are both directors at alcohol manufacturer Keroche Breweries.

According to DPP’s statement, the two are wanted over tax fraud after their company evaded Sh14 billion tax between 2015 and 2019.

Haji directed that Anerlisa’s parents be presented in court where they will be charged with 10 counts of tax fraud.

Keroche statement

However, a statement from Keroche Industries outlined that the allegations made by the DPP were false and aimed at intimidating the local business.

The DPP had outlined that the company had not remitted taxes for three of its alcohol brands - Crescent Vodka, Viena Ice and Summit beers.

Keroche refuted the claims but owned up to claims made on Viena Ice vodka brand, stating that the company pursued the due legal process against the taxman (KRA) and the matter was yet to be settled by the tax appeals tribunal.
