President Magufuli suddenly calls Baba Tiffah during a live TV interview. Kuna nini?

Yesterday, Bongo star Diamond Platnumz was in the Clouds 360 studio by Clouds TV where he talked about the state of music in Tanzania, how much money Bongo music is making and he asked that Magufuli’s government support music just like he supports other aspects of the economy.

“Tulilipa Kodi ya TRA milioni 35 ni uthubutu tunaweza kulipa kodi nyingi, serikali inabidi itulinde kwenye sanaa.” he told Clouds TV. (Translation: We paid taxes amounting to 35 Tshs, it proves that we are a lucrative industry and the government should try and protect our interests as members of the entertainment industry)

A comment that had Magufuli calling him up live on air.

“Nimemsikia Diamond na maombi yake nimeyapokea.”He said (Translation: I’ve heard Diamond and I’ve listened to his request)

“Kindly help us as the youth…we have paid taxes” Diamond said saying that Magufuli’s help would mean a lot to the players in the entertainment industry and families of entertainers since they depend on the money the celebrities make.

“Nakupeongeza kwa kulipa ushsuru na kutuwaikilisha vizuri kwa muziki, hata wale wanaoigiza nawapenda wote, Shilawadu na Kadhalika” the president said before the studio broke out in laughter. (I congratulate you for paying your taxes and representing Tanzania musically in the global music scene. I also love the actors, Shilwadu and the rest.

Diamond also addressed the arrest of Tanzanian artistes including the like of Wema Sepetu, Vanessa Mdee and T.I.D. "Msanii akihusishwa kwenye sakata la dawa za kulevya ni kuharibu brand, Serikali itumie busara kuzilinda na kesi."
