Kalekye Mumo reveals why she has quit K24

K24’s Talk Central show host Kalekye Mumo has explained the reason why she has decided to quit the Mediamax owned TV station.

Speaking exclusively to Pulse Live, Kalekye said that she was starting her own show that would capitalize on social media.

She went on to say that this was prompted by the fact that Kenyans want to connect more with her on a personal level, based on her social media posts. Kalekye added that she will produce the content on her own terms based on the things that affect her and society.

So I’m now putting together my own content on my own terms in my own channel which is what I’m looking to do. The feeling is that Kenyans want to get into my world to know more about me based on the things I post on social media when it gets to a personal level. So I want to do interviews yes, but now in a style that is things I like, things that affect me personally, things that have been affecting society and that in a format that will capitalize on social media because the future has become digital,” she explained.

According to her, working at K24 for the past two years has been an amazing journey because she got to make people comfortable enough to share stories they had never shared with anyone.

Real stories

She added that telling real stories regardless of status in society and getting to know the things they have been through, to get to where they are, is what she wants to focus more on, because it goes a long way in influencing people.

In has been fantastic, getting into the world of TV, doing interviews and getting people to feel comfortable and safe enough to tell me that haven’t been able to tell blogs and other people has been great that people feel comfortable and safe around me and trust me with their stories, I think that has gone a long way in inspiring and motivating the viewers with some of the stories the people share, especially the growth not assuming that somebody is being celebrated or in a position of influence because they woke up and just became but how the journey is,” said Kalekye.

Kalekye Mumo joined K24 in January 2017 as host of Talk Central show where she has been for the past two years after quitting Kiss 100 where she worked as a radio host for many years.
